Thank you for the post. I also had the same issue going from Windows 6.0 to VCSA 6.7. My SQL database was a little over 60GB and the vCenter VM itself was about 100GB 2vCPU/16GB. The migration tool only gave me the option for X-Large which was far from appropriate for our environment with less than 1000 VMs. The VPX_TEXT_ARRAY cleanup took about 40 minutes to run and then another 30 to shrink the database on an all-flash array. This reduced the database to about 32GB. The migration tool now let me choose 'Large'. Then I ran the query to clear out the history over 30 days and that reduced the database to only 3GB in size. That took about 20 minutes to run. Then I could proceed with 'Small' and 'Medium' VCSA deployments.

So this post is going on 7 years old but it's the most relevant response I've found to an issue I have... which means I must have a rare problem. I am running esxi 6.7u3 (current right now) and they've changed the way USB devices work... passthrough is now "not capable" for my USB 3.0 xHCI controller. What I have to do is add a "USB device" to the VM and select the actual device (camera, mouse or whatever). The problem however is similar to the 2013 issue, I can reboot the vm or even the server and the device will be re-connected ok... as long as it's powered up. If it's NOT powered up and the host and vm are started then the host doesn't see the USB device an disconnects it from the VM (and it doesn't re-add). I've been looking for a script to programmatically add "USB device" and select the proper one... but no luck. This is close so maybe gives me a starting point - thanks! (this has been a huge pita)

Great guide which helped me out a lot when setting up a test environment. Still a little confused about "capability profiles" though: what does this mean exactly "StarWind VVOLs allows you creation of two capability profiles. There are only standalone embedded preconfigured profile and highly available one." I can see a "capability set" under the vVol datastore I created called "Single_Node_Thick" but not a second one and I'm pretty lost after this.

Thank you! I have been fighting this all evening! Cloned a drive to a larger SSD, and had this exact issue. Tried playing with it in Macrium, tried various suggestions for GParted...nothing worked...until this. In seconds, I achieved what I've spent HOURS trying to do tonight. Thank you!

esxcfg-nas -r did not work for me in ESXi 6.7U1, but this did. Thanks!

Note: I noticed if I didn't have any accessible NFS shares, it wouldn't list any shares (active or inactive) or allow me to delete them. Once I managed to mount an accessible share, it listed an inaccessible share, which I then was able to delete.

Any ideas why?

Very helpful post. Same issue when migrating from 6.0 Windows to 6.7 VCSA for a small environment. It was the VPX_TEXT_ARRAY table that was causing the issue and I would have never found it if not for your post. Odd that VMware doesn't include that in their KB on the tiny/small missing article.
For others, my table was only 3 million rows and about 10 GB and had the same issue. After the cleanup, 600 rows. :D

i had same problem but a quicker fix was to list the virtual switch port IDs and edit the VM HW settings and change the port ID to a proper one there. it was without any outage

I found that the command "esxcfg-nas -r" was enough.
